While studying Art Therapy at Edgewood College, Allison made a conscious effort to step away from hyper-realism and loosen up her artwork style. Allison started with a figurative pose and planned a subtle composition based upon the Golden Ratio- swirling motion that leads the eye to the exact squares on her shoulder. The first layer was finished in one session, creating a foundation to build stronger colors, purposeful swipes of the brush, and scrapes of the palette knife.
